Sheffield Railwayana Auction Sale 157, Auction Lot 317
Lot 317 A worksplate LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 63426, ARMSTRONG WHITWORTH, 1920, from a North Eastern Railway Class T2, LNER Q6 Class, 0-8-0, NER/LNER No 2269, built by Armstrong Whitworth, Works No 17, in April 1920, renumbered 3426 in 1946, BR 63426. A long time Newport loco, it moved to the new Thornaby shed in June 1958 after Newport closed, and its later sheds were Neville Hill, Normanton and Tyne Dock from where it was withdrawn on 22 June 1967 and sold for scrap to Garnham Harris at Chesterfield. Cast brass, 9"x5",with a replica renumbering strip to replace the missing original, the worksplate is cleaned but unpainted.
